Plums, as required for a Plum Crumble cake. To be baked any time and eaten immediately.


Plums have this weird color gradient that goes Orange->Red->Blue->Purple, and the more colors you manage to sneak in the better they look.

They also have what's called "bloom" on their surface, similar to grapes. It's a waxy/powdery kind of stuff that protects them from pests. Fun fact: The more bloom on a plum the fresher it usually is, because bloom wears off the older a plum is and the more it gets handled.

All this makes them kinda hard to paint because you have to hit the same values with different colors, and when it comes to bloom you have to hit different values (since the bloom is brighter but much less shiny than the plum's skin. This one was good fun, and I enjoyed trying to put focus on one or two plums in a subtle way.
