There's Too Much Green In My Redcurrants

We had lots of redcurrants in our garden when I was growing up. We never ate them because they're really sour until you make them into jam, and we weren't very interested in jam either. Mostly the bushes got in the way of us playing soccer...

I'm pretty happy with the redcurrants themselves, but the heavy green background kind of killed the composition. There's an interesting post on painting greens by Qiang-Huang, specifically about our human eyes' sensitivity to it. They're quite hard to mix right because we perceive them to be more saturated than they really are, and that's the trap I fell into here.

I'm also starting to notice that a lot of colors that we look at as "green" are actually dark or desaturated yellows. But that's another problem for another day.
